| Selma Lagerlöf
![]() Selma Lagerlöf's library and studyroom from her home in Falun. The interiors from the year of 1910 are entirely reconstructed in Dalarnas museum. When the county museum was extended in 1984, it was finally possible to show Selma Lagerlöf´s library to the general public. Sixteen years had then passed since this room and other effects were saved when her house in Falun was pulled down and demolished. Since then, it is no exaggeration to claim that this room is the museum´s real public attraction. Miss Lagerlöf came to Falun in the autumn of 1897. She had trained as a teacher in Stockholm and had served as a teacher at a girl´s school in Landskrona for ten years, when she decided to devote herself entirely to writing. Selm Lagerlöf lived at three different addresses in Falun before she bought the house at Villavägen 34-36, in 1907. Three years later she moved to her childhood home, Mårbacka, which she had then been able to buy back and renovate. Especially during the winter, she often came back to the Falun house, which she owned until her death in 1940. During her years in Falun, Selma Lagerlöf wrote several of her most important works.
